The Barger Stock Feist has been effectively bred and developed at the Double B Kennels since 1948. Originally established as a family-owned breed intended for putting meat on the table, the agile Feist quickly evolved into a highly sought-after working dog for game and competition purposes.

In the 1980s, Bill Barger elevated the Barger Stock Feist breed significantly. He obtained Miss Doobie, a puppy from the 1986 World Champion of Squirrel Dog Hunting, and paired her with Shelton’s Alex, the 1987 World Champion. The Barger pedigree has been responsible for the breeding of numerous successful dogs, such as Little Champ, Cool Whip, and Dexter.
The rapid success of the Barger Stock Feist hoisted Bill Barger to the ranks of esteemed dog breeders, such as Robert Kemmer, Carl Smith, Curt Ladner, Jody Mullins, and Allen Reeves. The gentleman were featured on the cover of the January 2003 edition of Full Cry Magazine.
Our dogs are a registered breed recognized by the National Kennel Club (NKC). The line can be found throughout much of the United States, including Hawaii and California. Stacy Barger, the son of Bill Barger, oversees day-to-day operations of the breed at the Double B Kennels.
